The Gold House – The Discovery is the first book in a three book series that tells the amazing story of how Doc and Ova Noss discovered a vast fortune in gold bullion inside a small mountain in New Mexico. Their search began in the mid-1930s and by November 1937, Doc and Babe finally discovered the entrance leading to the vast treasure––that’s when their problems began. Gaining access to the treasure rooms was not only dangerous, but the U.S. Government looked on with envious eyes. The Gold House – The Discovery reveals a well-documented account of the lives of Doc and Ova Noss, two extraordinary individuals who, after finding a fabulous treasure, endured a hostile environment most others could not have tolerated. In spite of being maligned and ridiculed by individuals in the military and the Treasury Department in Washington, they held fast to their position that they were the first and only discoverers of the treasure and therefore, its true owners.
Doc, who had a propensity to drink, and did so heavily at times, was a target of ridicule for that very reason. In fact, it was a drunken brawl in Roswell, New Mexico that landed him in prison. When it came to matters dealing with the treasure, Ova and Doc came under great pressure and were subjected to years of mockery. The mountain where the gold lay hidden was called Victorio Peak, a large unobtrusive “hill” tucked away in the Hembrillo Canyon bordering the White Sands Proving Grounds, so named in the 40s and 50s. Their treasure quest found them camping for extended periods in Hembrillo Basin in a centuries-old stone structure they called the “rock house.” There they slept, hunted for wild game, cooked their meals, drew water from a nearby spring and explored for the treasure. The ancient map, (shown in the book) eventually led Doc and Babe to the well-hidden treasure. As primitive as the map is, the San Andres Mountains, the ancient “Bloody Hands” wall, Geronimo Peak, Victorio Peak, Hembrillo Basin’s western rim, the Organ Mountain Range, the Caballo Mountain Range, and the Rio Grande are all clearly identifiable. The story of how Doc came upon the map is also covered in book one.
Book one of the trilogy, The Discovery, tells the true story of the interesting events after the gold hoard was found and continues through the murder of Doc in 1949 by his business partner, Charlie Ryan. In Ryan’s murder trial, William Scoggin Jr. was the presiding judge and Benson Newell was Ryan’s legal counsel. Amazingly, though, Scoggin and Newell were both business partners and each had a 3% financial interest in “The Cheyenne Mining Company” which was owned by Doc and Ova Noss. Six years passed, and in 1955, Ova Noss was evicted from the treasure site by military personnel at White Sands, now called White Sands Missile Range. Ova’s eviction was followed by a string of thefts by outright criminals, the military personnel and civilians who helped themselves to the gold. Barr McClellan, New York Times bestselling author and attorney for President Lyndon Johnson’s interests from 1966 through 1977 wrote, “The profound service The Gold House trilogy gives to America takes on its own special value. These three volumes present enough polygraph exams, bank records, warehouse receipts and much more, more than enough to take to a jury and win. Hollywood cannot be far behind.” Marc D. Baldwin, PhD and Tenured Professor of English at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, Florida wrote, “Prepare to be astounded, shocked, and thoroughly engrossed by this meticulously researched incredible true story. The Gold House trilogy has been read and reviewed by prominent authors and scholars who support the charges leveled in the three books against the government and numerous individuals. The books are packed with photos, endnotes, and an index. The end result is a trilogy of books beyond the reader’s wildest imagination that blows the lid off a conspiracy of silence in this extraordinary story of government corruption that rivals Watergate. I also predict that The Gold House books will be a major motion picture and result in a Congressional investigation. That’s how big and important this true story is.
